We are a mixed Club of 36 members, formed in 1935 as part of the worldwide Rotary movement founded in 1905, a global network of service volunteers.
We are based in Thirsk, a small North Yorkshire market town well known for its race-course, its 15th century church, as the birthplace of Thomas Lord of Lord’s Cricket Ground, and as the home of the late James Herriot, the world famous vet and author.
Thirsk was also the main domaine of Baron Wiliam de Mowbray of Thirsk, one of the 24 barons who signed the Magna Carta on 15 June 1215. The remains of the family’s castle is located just beside the Market Place.
