Thirsk Rotary Club is part of Rotary International, a worldwide organisation dedicated to service in the community locally, nationally and internationally. The Club is always looking for new members to help sustain the activities the Club runs directly or supports through community organisations in the area.

Our Projects 2017-18
Support for young people:
*Unique Endeavour Awards for leavers in our local primary and senior schools to encourage and foster enthusiasm for going the extra mile & supporting others
*Skills competitions to national level in Cooking and Engineering Technology for secondary schools including Breckenbrough special needs school.
*Grants for school leavers at 16 + to help with training, equipment and cost of educational projects through our Thirsk Rotary Youth Trust
*Providing custom developed courses for Thirsk School to promote higher aspirations
*Support for Thirsk Clock
*Support for local Sports Clubs to widen availability of training
*Presentation of Christmas Santa in his Grotto at Thirsk Garden Centre, his winter gazebo in Thirsk Market Place, and on the roads of Thirsk and Sowerby in his sleigh!
*Provision of IPads for remedial support to pupils at East Thirsk Community School who suffer from developmental coordination disorders
*”Kids Out “Fun day out for 50 special needs school children from Mowbray School
*Financial support for Thirsk & Northallerton Golf Club Juniors to represent England in this year’s Junior Team Golf Home Nations Final in Portugal
*Financial support for Song Wires to provide a mass choral experience for young people
Support for the elderly, lonely, and needy:
*Holiday respite for Carers through our Eric Thompson Trust
*Support for the Thirsk Community Care Association Volunteer Services
*Support for Community Groups to provide Christmas Dinners
* Summer Afternoon Tea Party for the elderly and lonely
*Dispatch of Clean Water Equipment and Survival Accommodation as required
*Collection of spectacles for re-use
*Sponsored Cycle Rides
*Curry Lunch fundraising event
*Fundraising for Rotary Polio Eradication Programme
Support for the Community:
* Providing Public Firework Display and entertainment at Thirsk Racecourse
* Responsibility for Thirsk Rotary in Bloom organisation (formerly Thirsk in Bloom) *Environmental enhancement and en-route seating on the Rotary Way footpath route in association with Thirsk Town Council, Hambleton DC and North Yorkshire County Council
*Marshalling and providing Santa for Thirsk Christmas Fayre event weekend
* Marshalling and support for Kilburn Feast event and Carlton Miniott Sportsground event
*Financial and event Support for Herriot Hospice
*Parking and entrance management for Thirsk Action Group Picnic in the Park at Thirsk Hall
*Event support for the Tour de Yorkshire
*Financial support for Yorkshire Air Ambulance
